Week in Review :)

I hope everyone had a fantastic winter break! I know that enjoyed spending time with my son, Trey. We went to the movies, played some board games, and he had a great basketball tournament in Vernon, Vermont. (He plays for the Bernardston Blazers and his team won the Championship!)
I can't wait to see the kiddos tomorrow and hear about what they did over the break.  :)

We were very busy the week before break. In math we started our module on adding and subtracting fractions. We started our unit by reviewing equivalent fractions.  We found equivalent  fractions by using the number line, the area model and numbers. Understanding equivalent fractions will be very important when we start adding fractions with unlike numerators. This past week we also started adding fractions with like numerators.

In reading the students continued reading and taking notes on their topic for the Westward Expansion research paper. After a few days of reading and note taking the students read over their notes and catergorized them based on similarities. The students then came up with titles for each catergory. These categories will became the different sections in their research paper.

In writing we review compound and complex sentences. Students worked in groups to put cut up sentences together. This upcoming week in writing students will begin writing their Westward Expansion research paper.

See everyone tomorrow!
