Team Building

The first few weeks of school are all about building a sense of classroom community. The students participated in two team building activities to help build that sense of community. The first team building activity was the cup stack challenge. For this activity each group of students received the same materials, 15 plastic cups, four pieces of string, and a rubber band. Teams had to use the four pieces of string and the rubber band to create a tool that would allow them to build a cup pyramid with touching the cups with their hands (or any other parts of their body). The students dod a great job and had lots of fun with this activity! :)

The second team building activity the students participated in was The Marshmallow Challenge. For this challenge each group received one yard of team, one yard of string, 20 pieces of uncooked spaghetti, and a marshmallow. Groups had to build the tallest structure with their pieces of spaghetti, the challenge was the marshmallow had to be at the very top of your structure. A marshmallow seems light and fluffy until you are trying to build a structure out of spaghetti that can support support the marshmallow at the top. Another fun team building activity!
