It was a great day in third grade! In writer’s workshop
students picked a piece of writing that they would like to revise, edit, and
bring to publication. Students are learning about how to write with a
storyteller’s voice to help make their writing come alive. In the next few days
students will work on developing the heart of their story. The heart of the
story is the most important part of the story. Students will learn how to
decide what their heart of their story is and how to zoom in and really develop
that part of their small moment story. The students really love to write. Today
a student raised his hand and said, “Writer’s workshop is my favorite part of
the day!” That is the kind of comment I
love to hear.
In reading groups students are learning how to find the main
idea and supporting details of a reading passage.
It was Café Sun today. Bianca, Abby, and Kirsten showed off
some great jump roping skills. I loved the coordinating outfits! Girls, you
were awesome! Jlane wowed the audience with her beautiful voice and sang the
ABC song. I loved seeing members of our class perform at lunch time!
A big thank you to Abby’s mom, Michelle for sending in a
special treat of ice cream sandwiches. They were a great way to cool off on an
unusually warm fall day.
In math we continued with our work on reading and analyzing
graphs. We also started learning our multiplication facts. We realized we know
a lot more about multiplication than we thought!
What a great day!
