Brrr! It certainly was cold outside this morning, but it was warm and toasty inside our classroom.

Remember that it a short week due to Thanksgiving. There is no school on Thursday and Friday, and Wednesday is a noon dismissal. Due to the short week students do not have homework or spelling words. We will start our new spelling program, Words Their Way, when we return from Thanksgiving break. (I will send home a letter explaining the program on Monday, December 2nd.)

In the classroom students continue to work on their informational writing. Students have learned about non-fiction text features and ways to organize non-fiction writing. They are working very hard to incorporate what they have learned into their own informational pieces of writing. Students are writing on a topic of their choice. The topics include everything from soccer to how to bake a pizza. The students are doing a great job with their writing!

Non-fiction carries over into what they students are doing in reading. Students are finishing a project that went with a non-fiction book about life in Colonial America.

In math we are working on subtraction with regrouping.

Students hard at work on Subtraction Scoop!

Even with all the hard work that happened in our classroom today, we still found time to create a Thanksgiving art project.
