Thankful

It is that time of year when life gets even busier, it seems like we are rushing from one place to the next. It is also the perfect time of year to take a few minutes to slow down and think of all the things in our life that we are grateful for. I am thankful to be a part of the community here at Sunderland Elementary School. I have wonderful colleagues, supportive parents, and an absolutely amazing group of kiddos that I get to teach!

In reading we have been studying non-fiction text features and non-fiction text structures. This goes along beautifully with the non-fiction writing we have been doing in Writer's Workshop. Students have finished their rough draft of their first non-fiction piece. We will begin the revising process. I am very excited about what I see happening in Writer's Workshop.

In math we are continue to learn subtraction with regrouping. We have learned how to subtract across 0's and how to regroup more than once. We are learning how to solve multi-step word problems involving addition and subtraction. Exciting news! We will officially start our multiplication and division chapter next week.

More exciting news we have earned our first bucket filling party! :) Students have totally filled the green bucket with drops. More information on this party will be coming home soon!
