The Week in Review
News From Spanish Class
Every Friday our class has Spanish with Profe Clarita. For the past two weeks, the students have been learning how to say the names of different colors in Spanish. Students are also learning the names of body parts, such as head, shoulders, knees, and toes. The students even tried to do the body movements to classic song “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” sung in Spanish.

Math News
This week in math we started our unit on division. Students learned that division means taking a larger number and separating it into equal groups. Students learned how to solve division problems by drawing a picture and making equal groups. They also learned that they can use repeated subtraction to find the quotient to a division problem. Important vocabulary words related to division were also introduced, words such as quotient, dividend, divisor, and equal. Students spent the week practicing their new found skills and applying them to division word problems. Even though, in class we are studying division it is still important that your child continue practicing multiplication facts at home. Knowing their multiplication facts will help them with their division facts, after all they are related operations.

Writing News
This week in writing was full of editing, revising, illustrating, and adding those all-important text features. Students put the finishing touches on their first piece of informational writing .On Friday, during Writer’s Workshop Mrs. Jordan shared a book that she had written and had published. The title of the book is Fifty Nifty Games to Make and Play. It is a nonfiction book that she wrote for preschool and kindergarten teachers. The students learned that she went through the same steps of the writing process as they are writing their informational pieces. On Monday students will start their second informational piece of writing, a biography of someone from time period of Revolutionary War. I am very excited to get started on this new writing assignment!
