What a great group of kiddos!
Silly faces!
Today our class joined Mrs. Zadworny's class to launch our Native Americans unit. Students will be studying a Native American tribe from each region of the country. The Inuit are the first tribe students will be learning about. Some of the information students will be learn about each tribe is what part of the country they lived in, what type of house they lived in, how they dressed, and a few words in the tribe's native language.

The spider web greeting, still a class favorite!
In reading we finished up our nonfiction unit on the American Revolution. We will be starting a unit on fairy tales, folk tales, myths, and fables. We are also getting ready to take the MCAS reading comprehension test in March. Students have been taking short practice tests and we have been working on our short answer and long answer questions, it is important that students use evidence from the text to support their answer. Please check your child's take home folder on Monday for a newsletter from me about MCAS. Today in reading we learned how to use prefixes and suffixes can help not only decode an unknown word, but how we can use them to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.
On Thursday, in computer lab, Mrs. Kidder helped the students create a bio cube. The bio cube goes along with the biography project students have been working on in Writer's Workshop.

Have a great weekend! Remember to fill someone's bucket!
