Fables, Myths, and Fairytales!

We started our unit on myths, Fairy tales, folk tales, and fables. So far, we have learned about the characteristics that you usually find in Fairy tales, myths, and fables. For example, fables usually have animals as main characters, use personification, and teach a moral. Today in reading we read some familiar fables, such as The Tortoise and the Hare. We also read a few unfamiliar fables, such as The Grasshopper and the Ant. The students enjoyed trying to figure out the moral of the fables. Tomorrow we will learn about tall tales.

In writing we are busy getting ready for our Writing Celebration on Friday. Students have making last make changes to their writing and practicing reading their biographies and informational texts. Remember the Writing Celebration is this Friday 8:45 to 9:45. We hope to see you there! The students and I are so excited for you to hear what they have written.
