In reading we started reading our first chapter book, Freckle Juice. Today we talked about how good readers ask themselves questions as they read to check for understanding. As we read Freckle Juice students will go back into the text to answer comprehension questions. Being able to find information in text is important skill.
In Writer's Workshop students shared their personalized writing journal. (If your child has not personalized their writing journal please have them do so as early as possible. They will be allowed to share their journal with their school friends when they bring it to school.)
Students share what makes their writing journal special.
In math we continue to show multiplication as equal groups. Students wrote number sentences about the equal groups using repeated addition and a multiplication sentence.
Stephanie shows four groups of three or 3+3+3+3=12 or 4*3=12
Go team! In the afternoon the students completed a team building activity. Students worked in groups of three to solve a 48 piece puzzle. When groups when their puzzle they shouted, "Go team!" After completing the puzzle, groups filled out a sheet listing the different strategies they used while building their puzzle.
Have a great night! I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!
I love pictures of students sharing a great book!
