Friday was our first Writing Celebration for the year. The students worked very hard in our first writing unit, personal narratives. It was great for us to get together and celebrate all of the students' hard work and progress. I am so proud of all the students! I want to say thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who were able to come, it was great to see so many people there to celebrate the students' writing. Thank you to everyone who donated food or juice to our celebration. It was a great morning! :)

Unfortunately Mr. B got held up in a meeting and was unable to attend our Writing Celebration. He did stop by and listen to two students read their stories. He took the rest of the stories with him so he could read the students' stories in his free time. I know he was disappointed about missing the celebration.

Jenaily reads her story to Mr. B
Riley  also got to read to Mr. B

In Spanish  the students did a really cool art project. The students used tissue paper to create papel picado. Papel picado is used as a decoration in Mexico when they celebrate the Day of the Dead. The students cut some very intricate and beautiful designs into their paper.

Prof Clarita shows how to fold and cut the paper

Our clas was visited by sixth grade students on Friday. They were there to let us know about the food drive. Sixth grade is collecting non-pershible food items to donate to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Their goal is to collect 800 items. Our class can definitely help them reach their goal. Please send non-pershible food items to school with your child to help support this very worthy cause. Thanks!
