On Thursday author and illustrator Grace Lin visited the school. It was an amazing author visit! Ms. Lin talked to the students about her childhood, her travels, and how those two things inpired her to write her book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. She also taught the students about Chinese culture, about different characters from Chinese myths, and folk tales, and how these things inspired her to write. She ended her talk by teaching the students how to draw a Chinese dragon. It was a great author visit! The students really enjoyed it!

Classroom Update
We had some special guests to our school this week. On Tuesday our class had two Sunderland firefighters visit our classroom to teach the students about the fire triangle. The fire triangle is the three things that a fire needs in order to grow, those three things are oxygen, fuel, and heat. Students learned that in order to put a fire out you need to take away one of those three things. Students also learned how hot a fire can burn, what is in make smoke that makes it so dangerous, and how to safely get out of a building that is on fire. The firefighters also talked about the importance of having a family meeting place in the event of an emergency.
