It was a hot and humid day here at SES! Did we let the heat and humidity get us down and stop our learning? No, we persevered and had day full of learning! Our day started off on the right "note", with our first recorder lesson of the year. If your child ordered a recorder it should be in by Friday, September 13th.

In writer’s workshop we continued working on our small moment story. At the end of writer’s workshop we learned a very important routine; how to have a peer conference. I modeled to the students how to give their writing partner a compliment and how to make suggestions to help their partner improve their writing. Then students partnered up and had their first peer conference. As I walked around I heard some great compliments and some very helpful suggestions. We are a community of writers and we all learn from each other.

In math we learned place value through the hundred thousands. It can be tricky to learn how to read and write those 6 digit numbers, but after some practice we were doing great.

Remind your student to bring their planner to school every day in their take home folder.

Please check your child’s take home folder for a note from me regarding a project we are doing in class.

Let’s hope for some cooler weather tomorrow!
