October 11th

We have started a new chapter in math. We will be learning addition through the thousands with and without regrouping.  This week we learned how we can use basic addition facts to help us solve more challenging problems. If we know that 5+4 = 9 then we know that 500 + 400 = 900. Another strategy we learned was how to use a hundreds chart to help us solve addition problems.

One of the students favorite greetings,  the web greeting!
I would like to give a big thank you to David for bringing chocolate chip cookies to share with his school friends. We shared this treat Friday afternoon. What a delicious way to end a great week. Thanks David!

Madelene brought in a banner that she created at home to honor Mr. Merritt.
She created a banner that says, “Good Deeds to Honor Mr. Merritt.” She explained
that every time you see someone do a good deed you write about
it on the banner. Our class is going to see how long it takes us to fill the banner with good deeds. Thank you Madelene for this great idea to honor Mr. Merritt.
