Great Day in 3F

Mr. B listens to Cordelia read about the cello
It was a great day in our classroom. We started off with the Writing Celebration for our informational writing unit. We were joined by parents, siblings, and special guests. It was great to see  so many people show up to support our students and all of the hard work they every day. Students have shown a tremendous amount of growth in their writing since the beginning of the year. I am very proud of them. We had many experts at our writing celebration. I hope you learned something from them by listening to the students' writing pieces. I know I learn from the students' writing. Thank you to all of the parents who took time out of their schedule to join us. Thank you to everybody who donated food, drinks, and supplies to our celebration.

Today was also Dr. Suess' birthday. Dr. Suess' birthday is celebrated across the country as Read Across America. Here at SES we celebrated Read Across America by having special guest readers come into each classroom and read a few Dr. Suess favorites. Our Class was joined by Chris, a football player from Amherst College. The class absolutely loved it! They were memorized by the two Dr. Suess favorites he read to our class.Great job Chris!

We were joined by Mrs. Zadworny's class for a lesson on bullying by Mr. B. Our school is taking part in an anti-bullying project, known as BullyX. Mr. B stopped by to teach a lesson what bullying is, the bully, the bystander, and the victim, and what to do if you or someone you know is being bullied. The students had some great ideas. Their ideas included talking to a trusted adult, walking away, and standing up to the bully. It was a great conversation. Afterwards, students created their own anti-bullying poster as part of the BullyX project.
