I was so excited  by the buzz in the classroom during Writer's Workshop. The buzz was the sound of students excitedly planning, creating, and discussing the plans for their video project. It was a great sound! It was a great sight to see the groups working together to write and plan their speech. Today students came up with an outline for their group's speech. Groups also started planning how they will film their speech; where will they be-on the playground, in the classroom, or out by the dumpster. They also discussed props, who will be on camera, and who will be the camera person. I can't wait to see the final projects.

We started our poetry unit today. Students wrote a type often they are very familiar with, acrostic poetry. I love poetry! I am really looking forward to write some different types of poems with the class. In your child's take home folder you should have received a note about our upcoming poetry party. Our poetry party will take place on Thursday, June 19th at 1:30. I hope you will be able to attend!
