Welcome Back!

It was great too see everybody in school today! I loved hearing about the kids' adventures of eating too much food, going sledding, and visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. :)

We jumped right back into learning today. In reading, we started reading about the Pilgrims. Did you know that the Pilgrims went to Holland first, but that didn't work out so they sailed to America? Also, did you know that the Pilgrims didn't land at Pilmouth, but instead landed at Provincetown first. Those are just a few of the interesting facts we learned today reading about the Pilgrims. This week we will focus on reading and learning about the Pilgrims. This will lead up to us read a biography on Squanto next week.

In Writer's Workshop students continue writing their first informational piece of writing. Today we talked about some of the common text features found in informational books. Students decided which ones it would make sense to put in their book.

In math we reviewed metric measurement. With a measurement scoop game. Students worked in pairs (or sometimes with three) to decide which unit of measurement would be the best choice to use when measuring a given item. Tomorrow students will have a mid-module assessment that will include both measurement and time.
