Jack's acrostic poem about Estonia.
Today in reading we started a short unit on poetry. Today the students learned that poems are written in lines and stanza and got to spend some time reading poetry. We will come back to poetry at the end of the year when we write poetry.
In Writer's Workshop, the students continue to work on their persuasive speech about protecting the environment. On Monday, the students were researching information about their speech. It was great to look around the classroom and see groups and pairs of students sitting together reading articles and books looking for information on their topic. Today some students wrote their introduction to their speech. A few students shared their introduction in class today- they did a great job! I am so proud of how well the students are doing with their speeches. I can't wait to read the entire speech! (And for you to hear their speeches.)
Yesterday a student came in and placed a rolled up piece of paper on my desk. Inside was an acrostic poem they wrote for me. It is small gestures like this that remind me that I have the best job in the world and I am far richer than any CEO of any Fortune 500 company. Thank you so much for trusting me with children. I love coming to school and spending my days with them.
Have a great night!
