MCAS Fun! :)

Today was the first day of MCAS ELA testing and I knew it was going to be a great day when Jack walked into the classroom having magically  grown a beard and mustache over night. It was just the laugh the class needed before the seriousness of MCAS. Thanks Jack for bringing your sense of humor to our classroom; you help make it the wonderful place that it is.

I was very proud of how hard all the students worked during MCAS  today. I saw students rereading the text, underlining evidence in the text, and checking their answers. I was so impressed they remembered all the testing taking strategies they learned in the past few weeks. You should be very proud of your kiddo. I know I am proud of them. :)

In the days leading up to MCAS, we reviewed making inferences and finding the main idea of a selection. Students worked in groups or pairs to read selections and either find the main idea of the selection or make an inference about the passage they just read. The students did a great  job working together. They also did a great with the assignment.

Remember tomorrow is day two of MCAS ELA testing. Please be sure to have your student come to school well rested and on time tomorrow.

A conference sign up sheet was sent home on Monday. Spring conferences will be held on the afternoons of April 9th and 10th. If you would like a conference please return the sign up sheet by this Friday,  March 27th.

Report cards will be sent home this Friday, March 27th.

Our field trip to see the Pioneer Valley Ballet perform Aladdin and his Magic Lamp is this Friday morning.
