Our classroom received a beautiful thank you card from the servicemen and woman stationed in Qatar. The card thanks the students for their words of support, supplies that were sent over, and for just taking the time to remember those who are serving our country.
I am off the go help my husband finish the basement at our new house. I will post again later with updates about reading and writing. It is a beautiful spring day; I hope you get outside and have some fun today!
In math we having been learning about fractions. Students have learned what a fraction is, learned about fractions that are greater than one, and how to place a given fraction on a number line. We will be learning about comparing fractions and how to solve word problems involving fractions. Our fraction unit is a long unit and will continue with this unit after spring break. We have been doubling up on math because MCAS math is quickly approaching. Besides learning about fractions, we have also been learning about the characteristics of quadrilaterals and how to classify quadrilaterals based on their different characteristics. For example, a square is a special rectangle with equal sides. Students have also been practicing answering short answer math questions from past MCAS tests. It is important that students have practice answering these types of questions before the test.( An important side note, the dates for the MCAS math test have changed. Students will now be taking the test on Thursday, May 7th and Friday, May 8th. I will let you know if the testing dates change again.)
The students made fraction flowers!
Enjoy your day! :)
