I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for helping to make our donation drive for soldiers serving overseas a big success. Our class was able to send 12 boxes of letters and donations to servicemen and women who are serving our country overseas in Qatar. I know the letters and donations will be greatly appreciated and help them to know there are people back at home who are thinking of them. Thank you so much for generosity!
Students help to separate the donations to get them ready to ship to Qatar.

In math we continue our unit on geometry. Students are learning how to use the area to find the unknown length of the side of a rectangle. For example, if the total area is 24 square inches and the width is 4 inches; students can divide to find that the length is 6 inches. Students have been multiplying and dividing throughout the entire school year; this has helped students become more fluent with their multiplication facts. It is important, however, that students practice their multiplication facts for a few minutes each night. Flash cards are a great way to do this. If you are in need of multiplication flash cards please let me know. I have extra flash cards in the classroom.
Samara and Stephanie work on their math problem set together.
Hunter cuts out a rectangle for his math problem set.
In Writer's Workshop the students continue to think "OREO" to help them with their persuasive writing. Students continue to write their letter to someone at the school they feel deserves to be appreciated for all they do for SES.
In reading students worked with their partner to finish their summary of a fairy tale using the "somebody- wanted-but-so-then" format.
Reading a favorite past time in our classroom! Students love to grab a great book and read whenever they get a chance.
Have a great night! Be sure to ask your child about the great Ben Franklin assembly we had today. Thanks to the PTO for helping make the assembly possible.
