Time to Catch Up Part 2

I hope that you enjoyed some time outside on this beautiful spring day. :)

In writing we are continuing our unit on persuasive writing. Students are working in groups of four to write a script, create a storyboard, and film a persuasive video about protecting the environment. Mrs. Kidder helped out by teaching the students how to use IMovie. She will also be helping the students film in front of the green screen. Filming in front of the green screen will allowstudents to use a special app so they can have the background of their choice. The students are very excited about this project; writer's workshop has become the favorite part of the day. I can't wait to share the finished project with you. Be on the lookout for information about a Writing Celebration that will be scheduled after spring break.

Students practice filming and editing on IMovie.

In reading we continue working on the skills of writing a summary and using context clues to determine the meaning of an unknown word. Students are reading books in small groups; each group is reading a different book. When we come back from spring break we will start a poetry unit.

Have a great night! See you tomorrow!
