3F Environmental Movie

As part of our persuasive writing unit our class made a movie trying to persuade people to go green and protect the environment. This students worked very hard on this project. First, students picked the topic they wanted to write their persuasive essay about. The topics students could choose from included: types of pollution, recycling, going green at home, or going green at school. Once they picked their topic they researched it and wrote their own persuasive essay on that topic. After that the students got in groups based on their topic to plan their part of the movie. Before they could be filmed each group had to write a script and storyboard. Then the filming could begin. The students LOVED filming in front of the green screen. We did a lot of the filming in the classroom. This meant that if you weren't in the scene being filmed you had to be absolutely silent. The students did a great job with this; most kids either drew or watched the students that were being filmed. I was so impressed with the amount of hard work that students put into this project. I am very proud of each and every one of them :) A big thank you to parents who were able to come to our World Premiere and see our environmental movie.

Now in Writer's Workshop we are writing poetry. I love poetry. We have some great poets in our classroom. We will have a poetry celebration closer to the end of the school year. Look for a note to come home soon.

Here are some pictures from Writer's Workshop.
